STORMS!!!!!

These were the clouds before all the "fun" began. They were pretty awesome!

God waited until just after our church service to show His power. We watched this storm coming in from the west until the tornado sirens went off and then we headed downstairs. Or at least the girls and I did, Eric headed to work. I wasn't so prepared though. The power went out and we had no candles, the girls were suddenly so thirsty and we couldn't find the flashlights we brought down with us.

The sky was supper dark to the north. We stayed downstairs while that storm went over then headed up to bed. At about 1:00 we woke up to more thunder and the pounding of hail on the roof, it sounded like baseballs hitting the roof. The girls and I sat up on the couch watching the "pine trees in the back yard dancing" until Eric texted that the sirens were going off again. I think between the west wind, hail and thunder we couldn't hear it at our house. We headed downstairs again but this time we just stayed there until morning. Once we came up we saw some small branches in our yard and found that we have some hail damage on the siding of the house.

Later on we took a ride through the cemetary next to our house to check out the trees. We were also told there was some farming equipment that had blown into the cemetary too, but by the time we went there they must have had it all cleaned up. We checked the weather all afternoon watching storms around but nothing major here.

Tonight we were under another tornado warning so we brought everything we could need downstairs and are quietly waiting it out. I am so thankful for a nice basement with plenty of beds and space. Also thankful that after 23 reported tornados in Nebraska today there is no one hurt!

Medicine Creek Days

We got to experience our first Medicine Creek Days this weekend and we all had a blast! It started Friday night with the Big Wheel races. Kylie was all pumped to do it and Karinda was very bummed she was to old. Once we got downtown however Kylie decided no she didn't want to do it. After watching a few younger age groups and seeing you get a big package of m&m's she gave it a try. She was in no hurry but she had fun. Then later we went to the park for an awesome fireworks display.
Karinda had the choice to skip the swim meet this week and stay in town for the festivities. We rose bright and early Saturday morning and I ran the Medicine Creek 5k. It was hot but I got it done in 29:46 (my goal was under 30 minutes, so I just made it.) Then it was back home to get cleaned up and head back for the parade.

These are our friends Mallory and Brylyn waiting to get all their candy. We did not do a float for NCP this year and I was told the floats were really simple. I am actually glad we just took it in this year because there were some really awesome floats! Good to know for next year. After the parade everyone flocked down to the park again for some awesome food, inflatables for the kids and just hanging out with friends. Later in the afternoon we went to the pool for the duck dive. It is a fund raiser for the Chamber of Commerce. You can buy a duck with a number on it before hand. Then they put all the ducks in the pool and have people dive in and pick out a duck. If they pick your number you get to pick a prize donated by the local businesses. I bought four ducks and three of them got picked! We got tickets to a Huskers football game with spending money, golf lessons for Eric (Happy Fathers Day), and a game and stuffed animal for the kids. Beginners luck I guess, I don't anticipate that happening again.

At night we got a babysitter for the girls and headed to the beer tent and street dance. SOOO much fun!!!!

We are going to end our weekend with another All Glory worship service tonight. Super fun weekend but busy too, I don't know if I could do that every weekend.

Wilsonville Rodeo

Today we went to the Wilsonville rodeo and we all really enjoyed it. We found the girls super sassy friend Macy there and this was not her first rodeo. She helped explain things to the girls when I wasn't sure what things meant. They had Barebacks, Calf Roping, Breakaway, Saddle Bronc, Kids Steer riding, Calf tagging, Steer Wrestling, Mutton Bustin, Team Roping, Ladies Barrels, and Bulls. We got there a little bit early and we were looking over the program. Kylie read Barebacks and she could see some horses and sheep and cattle so she asked where the Bears were. This was her first rodeo!

This is Aaron, he is a rodeo clown and he works at NCP.

This is Mutton Bustin where the kids seven and under get on a sheep and try to stay on. No one got very far, they usually fell off right away, but everyone that tried it got a dollar.

Steer Wrestling looked quite dangerous

Summer Fun

We made another whirl wind trip back to Michigan over the holiday weekend. We got the cabin almost renter ready. The girls did awesome entertaining themselves on the water and in the trees. The neighbors must have thought their names were Mary and Laura though because that is all we heard for the weekend. Then Grandpa and Grandma Meeuwsen took the girls tot he parade while we went and did some yard work on Ransom St. Then back to Nebraska to start our summer fun.

We have started "summer school" on Tuesday's and Thursday's. More pics and details to come on that later!

Kylie started t-ball. There are three Cambridge teams and they just play each other over and over. The teams are mixed with boys and girls. The boys are definitely more into the games but they are all fun to watch. The picture is actually of Kylie's friend Breelle, Kylie is somewhere out in the outfield. Breelle gave us the good laugh for the night. She was in the field playing first base and when the ball was hit she took off for second base, glove and all. Oh how I wish I had videoed that one.

Our little swimmer ready for her first meet. The numbers on her arm are the events she swam in. She loves practice and says it was "AWESOME" every day. They have a great coach and had a great first meet!

There was a ton of people there all camped out on the lawn. There was 6 different teams competing. Indianola, Lexington, Gothenburg, Elm Creek, Fredrickson, and Cambridge. It really was a perfect day a light breeze and not too hot!

Karind doing the 25 backstroke.

This was in the relay medley she is in the fourth lane. Karinda did the 50 free too I just cannot get that video to load. A 50 free is to one side and back. When she got half way she hung on the side a minute and I yelled go Karinda, Go. She went on to finish and when I asked her if she thought she was done, she said, "No mom, I just needed a breath." In all she did great for her first swim meet!
