Casa de Meeuwsen

We got a lot done in a week thanks to my wonderful helper Chris. We took a wall out, some bricks out, got the wall to wall carpet out, put 8 can lights in and got started with some painting. We are not near done but we have made a lot of progress!

Riping and Tearing

It has been a fun, busy week. We met the flooring people at the house on Monday morning and we started tearing the wallpaper out and flooring out right away! The girls did a great job the first day peeling wallpaper and tearing carpet out, then they started getting a little bored. It didn't take me long to get used to the "small town thing." After lunch I bring them to the pool and quick go back to the house to do a few things. It means a lot of running around but everyone is happy!

Our First Guests

Dale and Laurie Mast were our first visitors. They got to McCook Monday night and we were hoping to have dinner and take them for a boat ride but that didn't work out because Eric had to work late so the girls and I headed to McCook to have dinner with them there. They gave us a trunk load of stuff from home (which included my camera cord) yeah! They came to the house on Tuesday morning for a quick tour and we drove them through town a little then Eric gave them a tour of the plant. Thanks Dale and Laurie for coming all this way to visit, while it was short it was so good to see familiar faces.

We love it!

It has been a busy couple of days and I don't have internet at the house so I will give a huge update and hopefully add some pictures once our first guests arrive with my camera cord!

We hit the park right away Thursday morning and the pool on Thursday afternoon. The kids here just go to the pool on their own so I was the only adult there watching her kids, it was a little weird, but the pool director said I would probably buy into this small town thing soon and it is a good independence builder for the kids to go on their own. Anyway, the pool was actually pretty cold so the girls stuck to me pretty tight but I told them they could go play or we would leave (I know not so nice, but they weren't going to make any friends sitting by me.) They met a little friend and then got brave and went down the slide and jumped off the diving board. That night they found a few little girls that lives right around the corner. The one little girl is the exact same age as Kylie, with the same birthday! Kylie is a head taller than her so they don't look like it but they have a lot of fun.

Friday we went back to the pool with their little friends and once again I was one of the only adults, and this time the girls decided they would try the HIGH dive. They both did it at least twice. I don't even know if I would dare do it. Later when I went to go get the girls from their friends house their parents are sweet as can be! We ended up going out to the lake with them and tubing, yes, both of our girls went on the tube and loved it! They are new girls here in Nebraska! We had a little boat trailer trouble and our new friends were a great help!

Saturday we got the keys to the new house so we checked it out and went to McCook to get a few things for it, Monday morning we will start taking wall paper off and get things measured for some new flooring! I took a picture of the thermometer by the bank today it said 111. It is a dry heat though I think it feels like you are standing in front of the oven, I love it! We had to go to the pool at night to show Daddy our new tricks too.

We visited the congregational church this morning, it was small and nice, we might try the Methodist next week. Thats what I have for now, I have to go see if the girls made more new friends, they were scoping some out before I left.

We made it!

We made it to Nebraska yesterday and the girls did awesome once again. Karinda is a great map reader and Kylie is really good at entertaining herself. I got some cute pictures of the girls on a playset at a rest area in Iowa, yes some of their rest areas have playsets! But....I don't have the right cord for my camera and my SD card does not fit in my computer, huge bummer. Which means I won't be able to send pictures any time soon.

Well we are off to the park and the pool, it is what they have been waiting for!

We May Have A House!

I have no idea what plan we are on by now but we hopefully have a house as of next Friday!

The plan was for us to leave after vacation and Eric ended up leaving a little early from vacation because of troubles at work. :( So... the girls and I will leave towards the end of this week with all of our stuff. :)
